We awoke from 'camping' in the van near Bozeman...if hooked up to good electric w close bathrooms and free hot showers is called camping.
It was really windy last nite...enough for us to consider if we needed to drop the tent on the van. However, knowing we'd be warm enough with good electric heating the blankets we wanted to have the room. We've been sleeping with the top down to stay warmer but it gets to be really cramped after a while.
Once we had clean clothes, showers and washed the van (so we could see out of the windows), we spent some time in Bozeman.
Later we headed to Neptunes Brewing in Livingston for a few tasters. We both agree that the chocolate porter and belgium blond were the top two beers.
Back on the road to Yellowstone, we headed in the rain towards Mammoth (where the resident elk herd was hanging out in front of the hotel), then the Lamar Valley. We only needed to go about 2 miles before we saw a gray wolf that was hunting an injured elk.
After we left Canyon Village and headed inyto Hayden Valley, we saw a smallish herd of elk. Next we came across a sow grizzy bear with three cubs. Of course we also saw several additional bison and elk herds.
What an amazing unplanned day of viewing wildlife!
Then back towards the south gate to Flagg Ranch for camping.
