Fruita, Colorado

This past weekend Amgen had there annual spring cycling trip to Fruita, Colorado. Fruita is located 15 miles East of the Utah/Colorado border. They call the area the Western Slope as it is a land of mesas that drop off into the desert. The Slope is a portion of the Colorado Plateau which was created with 29 ancient oceanic cycles. It also along the banks of the Colorado River where it first starts to carve the southwestern desert sandstone.

Saturday we rode the 18 Road area which is on the northern side of the valley towards the BookCliffs.
Sunday we rode Kokopelli area which is at the Loma exit. These rides are along the high banks above the Colorado River.
