One of the many spectacular canopy of quaking aspen trees from this past weekend hunting elk in Northern Colorado.
We could hear the Bull elk bugling high up on the ridges at dawn but unfortunately we could not get to them before they bedded down in the deep dark timber providing shade from the heat of the day.
We had one opportunity on a cow elk as we walked back to camp the final day but ended up spooking her as we approached to close the distance to a shooting range that we had confidence in making. Unable to get an arrow off and fill the freezer.
God giveth and God taketh away.
